Creating and Sharing Team Projects

Team projects enable multiple Axure RP users to simultaneously co-author a single prototype file. A central copy of the file is stored on Axure Cloud, and each teammate makes edits to an individual, local copy of the file stored on their computer.

Note

You must have a license for Axure RP Team edition in order to work with team projects.

Creating Team Projects

  1. In Axure RP, go to File → New Team Project to create a blank project.

    If you would instead like to convert an existing RP file into a team project, open it and go to Team → Create Team Project from Current File.

  1. In the Create Team Project dialog, give the project a name.

  2. Create a new workspace for the project or choose from your existing workspaces.

  3. Click Create Team Project.

  1. Once the project's directory has been successfully created on Axure Cloud, click Save Team Project File to save your local copy of the project.

  1. At this point, you have a few options for how to proceed:

    • Open your local team project file to begin working.

    • Click Invite Users to add collaborators to the project. (You can access this option later as well by going to Team → Invite Users.)

      Collaborators can download their own local copies of the team project via Team → Get and Open Team Project after accepting your invitation on Axure Cloud.

    • Click Make URL Public to get a link to the generated prototype that you can share with individuals who are not collaborators on the project. (By default, only collaborators can see the project’s generated HTML on Axure Cloud.)

      You can change this selection later in the project’s overview on Axure Cloud. (More on this option in the Axure RP Projects on Axure Cloud article.)

Getting a Copy of an Existing Team Project

  1. If you haven't already done so, log in to app.axure.cloud and accept the shared workspace invitation that the creator of the project sent you. You will not be able to access the team project until you have done this.

  2. In Axure RP, go to Team → Get and Open Team Project.

  1. In the Get Team Project dialog, click the ellipsis menu and select the desired team project in the list that appears.

    Tip

    Use the search field at the top of the menu to search for the team project by name or ID.

  2. Click Get Team Project. Once the project has been downloaded, click Save Team Project File to save your local copy of the project.

Your Local Copy of the Project

Your local copy of the team project is stored as a .rpteam file in one of the following locations:

Mac: ~/Documents/Axure/Team Projects

Windows: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Axure\Team Projects

When you want to work on the team project, open the .rpteam file from this location or from Axure RP's list of recent projects. You do not need to get a new local copy each time.

Exporting a Team Project to an RP File

You can export a team project to a regular .rp file. This can be useful if you want to send a project file to someone who's not a contributor to the team project or to preserve the current state of the team project.

To export your local copy to a .rp file, go to File → Export Team Project to File.

Removing Teammates from a Team Project

To remove a teammate from a team project, remove them from the Axure Cloud workspace that the project is located in. Alternatively, you can restrict them to "viewer only" access in the workspace.

Once you have done this, the teammate will no longer be able to get or send changes to the team project, and they will no longer be able to check assets in or out.

Note

If a teammate had assets checked out before they were removed from the project, you can "steal" the assets back by performing an unsafe check-out and then checking in your changes.
